Samantha Hanson brings a unique leadership perspective earned from her experience in diverse and dynamic organizations across health care, technology, HR services and retail industries. She is the Chief Administrative Officer for North Memorial Health where she leads HR, IT, Strategy, Marketing & Communications, Provider Services, Quality and Innovation. Her vision is to provide unified shared services that enable nimble organizational shifts in customer experience, workforce readiness, empowered analytics, quality outcomes, and profitable growth for the health system. She is committed to driving differentiated service and experience in health care. Prior to joining North Memorial Health, Samantha was Chief Human Resources Office for Children’s Minnesota. While at Children’s, she drove dramatic improvements to workforce engagement and enabling a culture where the system delivered improved clinical and financial outcomes. Preparing her for executive roles in health care systems, Samantha’s earlier experience included SVP of OptumInsight Human Capital where she helped shape the provider business segment – now a cornerstone business unit for United Health Group. She also held leadership positions in industry-transformative companies in HR technology (Vurv/Taleo) and retail (Best Buy). When not working to transform health care systems to deliver unmatched customer experience for its patients and employees, Samantha loves outdoor adventures including hiking and remote camping with her family. She holds a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from the University of Minnesota, and masters coursework in Public Administration from the University of North Florida.

 

As chief human resources officer, Carolyn is responsible for all aspects of human resources, including talent recruitment and performance management, compensation and benefits, employee and labor relations, training and development and human resources administration. In this role Carolyn has worked closely with the Board of Directors on CEO selection, onboarding and succession planning. In addition, her team has been accountable for acquisitions, culture change initiatives and ERP selection and implementation. She also serves as vice president of Human Resources Shared Services. Carolyn joined Fairview Health Services in 2008 from Honeywell where she served as a global organizational effectiveness leader. She has worked in organizational development and leadership development for more than 20 years, in a variety of industries and organizations. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota.

 

Marisa is a technology visionary - a change agent who consistently pursues innovative methods and best practices to deliver quality solutions to solve the world’s toughest talent challenges. With her multidisciplinary approach, she helps clients think differently and holistically so that technology can truly improve the employee experience, reduce operational burdens, and allow for data insights that can empower decision making.

 

During the CHRO panel, Jason will get 4 different perspectives on the shift from automation of processes to digitization of capabilities.  He will get insights on why personas matters and applying design thinking is crucial.  He will discuss with the panel the changing needs of the business and the HR function. Emily Boarman is the Senior Manager of Customer Experience and HR Portal at Medtronic. Her team focuses on ways to make the HR experience easier for the 84,000+ global employees at Medtronic using ServiceNow. Prior to her time at Medtronic, Emily was a leadership consultant for a non-profit organization and a Language Arts educator. She moved to Medtronic five years ago and has had a communications and HR Portal role for most of her time. Emily is passionate about leveraging technology and personal connection to improve experiences

Jane Swenson, Client Success Manager at Degreed, is a customer advocate focused on helping General Mills and other Degreed clients drive awareness, adoption and engagement of learning technologies to inspire culture change and achieve desired outcomes. She has been with various SaaS talent development / management providers during her career of more than 20 years.

 



2017 was a pivotal year for General Mills.  Amidst change in leadership structure at General Mills, and after decades of a headquarters-centric focus, it was time for Learning and Development (among others) to shift to a truly global mindset. As such, the Talent Development L&D team needed to expand training offerings to 22 countries around the globe and in 6 languages - and to make the learning content accessible easily and quickly.  

General Mills’ search for an accessible, intuitive, easy-to-use, and explicit learning technology tool ultimately led the company to partner with Degreed.  In this session, we will discuss how General Mills implemented Degreed successfully, and how partnerships were critical to that success.

Prior to joining Redwing in 2007, Carrie held senior HR leadership roles across a broad spectrum of industries including retail, healthcare, technology and manufacturing.
