This 2-day Project Leader Essentials course is facilitated by Senior Project Leaders and Communications experts with 25+ years of experience across a broad range of industries, functions and cultures.**
You will participate in exercises, in-depth discussion, case studies and techniques to help illustrate practices and principles. Course hours are eligible to be submitted to PMI for PDU credits.  This is a highly interactive and focused 2-day course:
Day 1:             Essentials of Project Leadership
With the many challenges, you face every day to lead a successful project, this class will focus on project leadership skills and tools. Project leadership skills and tools are the focus of the class rather than pure project management or administration tools.
Focus areas include:

  • Define the Project
  • Build and Manage Team
  • Create a Credible Schedule
  • Anticipate and Manage - Risk and Opportunity
  • Manage Scope Creep
  • Execute to Plan
  • Close the project

Day 2:             Communication is the Currency of Leadership.
Participants will learn to identify project roles and team member communication styles.  Skills are introduced that give foundation for working across generations, working across technology and working between cultures.
By learning P.A.C.E.™ communication training via the P.A.C.E.™ assessment, participants will leave with the tools they need to manage communication with those around them.

**Our Trainers

Annette Scotti, MAIR, has over 20 years’ experience in HR working in the capacities of HR Director and leadership and development trainer. She has consulted with executives and mid-level management at regional and national organizations in industries including manufacturing, engineering, construction, banking, financial services, health care, communications services, nonprofit and education.   She has been teaching since 1998, and currently is an adjunct faculty member teaching numerous HR and MBA courses at Saint Mary's University of Minnesota Graduate and Professional Programs.  In 2010 she received the distinguished award of “Outstanding Faculty Member” at St. Mary’s University of Minnesota.  Further she designed and delivered the first Leadership Academy for the Minnesota School Association of Business Professionals, which continues to enroll school business professionals for its 18-month program.

Pete Pfeiffer is an accomplished project leader who brings over 20 years’ experience and a broad set of business and leadership skills to challenging senior management positions and project leader consulting engagements.

As both a business executive and consultant, he has successfully led large and small cross-functional projects, including: strategic planning, cost improvement initiatives, technical infrastructure implementation, software selection/implementation, plant consolidations, customer/product rationalization, sales force automation, and project office implementations.

Pete is also a sought-after facilitator and coach/mentor, whose positive, performance-based approach integrates broad technical and functional knowledge with excellent interpersonal, communication, and team-building skills. Equally at home in an array of industries, Pete has led cultural, process and technical change projects for clients of all sizes. A graduate of the Indiana University School of Business, where he earned both a BS- Accounting and MBA - Finance, Pete is also a mentor in the Menttium program and a member of the Project Management Institute.
