LEHRN Membership Renewals due for CY2017.

Presenters on December 14th

1.  HCM MARKETPLACE UPDATES - Scott Berg returns to LEHRN on January 25, 2017 and will provide his perspectives one"HR Systems and Technology: 2016 in Review & Prospects for 2017"

Stepping into the opening segment of the morning conference is:
 Jason Averbook, HR/HCM Thought Leader.

Jason is just returning from keynoting at Australia's largest HR Conference.  His report of that event offers ideas and new approaches for the annual LEHRN MN HR TECH EXPO & CONFERENCE, April 12, 2017 at the St. Paul RiverCentre.  Jason will MC the 2017 EXPO and is joining the LEHRN session on 12/14 to solicit your ideas on how to provide more value to participants, sponsors and exhibitors.  A key idea is to structure the 2017 Expo to better link solutions to problems.  What do you need/what does your company need to take a leap forward.  Jason will layout EXPO2017 ideas  to survey the LEHRN membership in advance of the conference. The survey would be designed to understand the maturity of respondent companies in the areas of data architecture, analytics, change management, systems integration, employee engagement, talent acquisition. Findings would be reported at the conference and used to build the Expo and conference content to more specifically address the needs identified. Please come to add your design ideas to the mix. Jason promises that you will come away with new ideas to impact your business based on actionable data.

2.  INC.SPOT - New Addition

Note:  Australian talent management suite provider,  PageUP People, was invited to present to LEHRN on  December 14, but have asked to be rescheduled to LEHRN's May meeting. PageUp was ranked upper-right in the recent Forrester Wave on which reviewed the key players in the TM space.

Companies use Knack to identify and reach high potential people in diverse talent pools. People use Knack to broadcast their talent and connect with job opportunities. Governments, communities, and schools use Knack to help their citizens and students get the right jobs.

1. The Knack app’s science-driven games uncover your abilities, competencies, and interpersonal and work skills, and gives you the perfect platform to showcase them for employers.

2. The Knack app maps the professions that match your knacks, and helps you leverage your strengths on the road to a successful career and personal fulfillment.

3. The Knack app sends you personalized notifications about promising jobs, and gives you the power to instantly connect with employers without the painful online application process.

LEHRN  contacted the  offices in Israel and they would like to present to LEHRN when their leadership team is in the US, but they could not attend the upcoming meeting.

Because gamification is a leading edge HCM topic and because they Knack app is available and in use, we have asked LEHRN member  Katie Eull, Partner and Co-founder of Fresh Expertise, to review the app and report  on its value and usefulness at the 12/14/16 LEHRN meeting.

Want to read more on the science behind gamification.  Check out this PDF: Serious Games for Talent Selection and Development  by Michael Fetzer, CEB, Published in The Industrial Organizational Psychologist.

Kate Bischoff, in her new independent HR legal consultancy, tHRive Law & Consulting LLC, presents:

"Driving Engagement with Employee Self-service:
Embracing Smartphone Use"

See Kate's Bio HERE

Mobile devices are 'business now'.  Do you go to sleep and wake up with your phones?  Employees want (or demand) to work anywhere - anytime.  We think employers should foster this to recruit and retain talent.  Employment law has something to say about smartphone use, particularly in the emerging case law for wage and hour, employee privacy, and data security areas.   Employers can embrace the benefits of mobile devices and still be compliant.  You will learn:

  • How smartphones can help increase employee engagement
  • The laws surrounding smartphone and app use
  • How to address executive and business concerns

Doug Berg presents:

"Rearview Mirror and the Crystal Ball:
Looking back and seeing ahead:
– What's in the Next Wave of
Talent Technology?
– Will You Be Ready?"

Doug is a three-time venture backed entrepreneur, based in Minneapolis, who has raised over $125 million in venture financing for his startups in the recruiting and marketing industries.

He was the founder of
, which was the earliest social network for technology pro’s that became PC Week’s best career site for techies back in the 90’s. He was the founder of Jobs2web, which powered the online recruitment marketing and strategy for hundreds of top employers and was sold to SAP in 2010 for $110 million. Today, he leads MyAlerts, which is putting consumers in control of their marketing and driving Facebook levels of engagement for several dozen top online sites like Best Buy, Target, Home Depot, World Markets, Macy’s, Cars .com, and many more.

First we’ll look into the HR Rearview Mirror. What is the technology timeline that has brought talent acquisition and talent management to its current state?  How have technical innovations changed and not changed the recruiting world?
Then we’ll look into the HR Crystal Ball. What near future innovations are already visible and coming into focus out on the leading edge? Will these new technologies be game changers? Are some future HR technologies already changing the game in other sectors?  We’ll identify specific future innovations in HR technology and then predict which one’s will be “fads” and which ones will be “must have’s” in your HR game plan.

  • See the timeline of the evolution of HR technology (the big shifts) and the real impact they made.
  • Has technology brought real improvement to HR’s talent management?
  • Has ‘time to fill’ and ‘cost to fill’ positions improved?
  • What changes in candidate & consumer technology will drive needed changes in your company's HR strategy?
